The high-power bucket wheel dredger independently developed and designed by HID Shipyard has completed a phased construction task in the expansion project of key ports along the southeast coast. Facing the extreme working conditions of high-density clay and fractured rock interlaced layers, this vessel has successfully overcome multiple dredging challenges with its continuous high production capacity and low energy consumption loss, becoming a key guarantee for the project to be advanced on schedule.

The bottom layer of this construction site is distributed with hard cemented soil and weathered rock of uneven thickness. Traditional cutter suction vessels often encounter problems such as severe wear of cutter teeth and large fluctuations in sludge discharge concentration. The HID bucket ship is equipped with a new heavy-duty bucket wheel drive system. By optimizing the bucket wheel speed and soil cutting Angle parameters, it has achieved precise "delaminating" cutting of hard soil layers. On-site data shows that under hard clay conditions, its hourly output remains stable at over 2,200 cubic meters, and the mixed sludge discharge concentration is maintained at around 28%, far exceeding the average level of similar vessels.

In the past, such geological conditions required frequent replacement of cutter teeth and even the addition of pre-treatment blasting processes. Now, HID's bucket ships are formed in one cutting process and can operate continuously for 24 hours without structural downtime. The project construction manager made a special note in the log.

The bucket dredger has been in continuous operation for 2,100 hours, and the comprehensive utilization rate of the equipment has reached 94.6%. Currently, HID Shipyard is initiating the iterative research and development of the "Super-hard Stratum Bucket Wheel System" based on the data from this construction. The new generation of models is expected to increase the cutting specific energy by 20%.
