The transport barges delivered by HID Shipyard ten years ago are still operating efficiently at the customer's site.
Recently, when the brand promotion team of HID Shipyard visited an old customer, they witnessed an exciting scene: A deck transport barge built and delivered by HID Shipyard in 2016, after ten years of frequent operation, is still active on the customer's transportation line in good condition and with high efficiency.
This barge, affectionately called "Old Buddy" by the crew, is one of the representative works of HID Shipyard's early foray into the commercial transport ship market. Over the past ten years, it has accumulated a voyage distance of more than 300,000 nautical miles, equivalent to circling the Earth's equator nearly 14 times. It has shuttled between busy ports and near-sea waterways, transporting steel, ores, and even large infrastructure components. There has never been a single operation halt accident due to hull structure issues.
Facing the HID shipyard team's follow-up visit, the project manager said with emotion, "We chose HID back then because we were impressed by your reputation in the construction of special vessels." But the performance of this ship over the past ten years has still exceeded our expectations. The welds of the hull have endured countless high-intensity loading and unloading impacts, and the deck surface has not shown obvious structural deformation to this day. It has been proven that the construction techniques and steel selection of HID back then were truly based on the long-term considerations for the customers to use for several decades."
Over the past decade, HID Shipyard's aftermarket service team has consistently maintained close collaboration with its clients. From regular technical follow-ups to spare parts supply in emergency situations, HID has provided full life-cycle support beyond the scope of the contract for this "old ship" by establishing a digital operation and maintenance file of "one ship, one file".
Standing at the new starting point of 2026, HID Shipyard has comprehensively upgraded and iterated the craftsmanship spirit of building this barge back then into an intelligent and green new shipbuilding system. From the "ten-year stainless" steel processing technology to today's digital twin operation and maintenance system, HID is building a high-quality fleet with the maximum value throughout the entire life cycle for global customers with a more forward-looking perspective.
A barge, ten years of journey, a lifetime of commitment. HID Shipyard thanks all our old customers for their continuous support. We firmly believe that a true brand is not in the applause of delivery, but in the thumbs-up that customers still give over the long years. In the next decade, HID is willing to continue sailing with you!
