It is a crucial and standardized procedure for SCO HID Shipyard to conduct comprehensive inspections before delivering cutter suction dredgers. This is not merely a formality; it is a crucial step to ensure the safety of dredgers, meet performance standards, comply with contractual norms, satisfy customer expectations, and smoothly put them into operation.
This comprehensive inspection usually covers multiple levels and stages, mainly including the following contents:
1. Equipment function check
Main/auxiliary diesel engines: start-up, shutdown, speed regulation, load test (simulation), monitoring and alarm system test.
Generator/distribution system: Generator set parallel operation, load transfer, protection device testing, insulation monitoring.
Propulsion system: Thruster (if equipped) forward and reverse rotation, steering gear operation (if applicable).
Deck machinery: Operation tests of anchor cranes, winches, cranes, etc., braking force tests.
Hydraulic system: Pressure testing, leakage inspection, and action testing of various actuating mechanisms (such as cutter landing gear, bridge lifting, positioning pile cylinders).
Compressed air system: Pressure testing, safety valve calibration.
2. Security System Testing
Fire protection system: Functional testing and alarm for fire pumps, fire hydrants, hoses, sprinkler systems (if any), fixed fire extinguishing systems (CO2/ foam, etc.).
Life-saving equipment: lifeboat/raft release and recovery, number and status of life jackets/hoops, rope thrower testing, general alarm and public address system testing.
Navigation signal lights and sound signals: Functional testing.
Water-tight door/weather-tight door: Opening and closing test.
3. Preliminary Test of Automation and Control System
The remote control and monitoring functions of the main equipment in the central control room/cab.
Simulation test of alarm points (such as liquid level, temperature, and pressure exceeding limits).
4. Static test of dredging system
Sludge pump: Check by turning the wheel, start, and confirm the rotation direction (special attention should be paid to prevent reverse rotation damage). A water cycle test may be conducted.
Pipeline valves: Conduct operation tests and check the sealing performance.
Cutter drive: Rotate the gear, start, conduct low-speed operation tests, and check the oil level and temperature of the gearbox, etc.
Positioning system: Positioning pile/steel pile lifting test, anchor machine/winch tension test (simulated positioning).
Bridge/cutter frame: Lifting and swinging action tests.
Preliminary inspection of monitoring instruments: pressure gauges, vacuum gauges, concentration meters (if installed), etc.
