The HID heavy-duty cutter suction dredger has successfully completed the core dredging project of the third phase expansion of Tuladu Airport in the Maldives.

HID, a leading global manufacturer of dredging and Marine engineering equipment, announced today that the heavy-duty cutter suction dredger designed and built by the company has successfully completed the core dredging and reclamation tasks in the third-phase expansion project of Tuladu International Airport in the Maldives. This marks the complete success of the third major infrastructure project undertaken by HID high-quality engineering vessels in the country, once again verifying the outstanding reliability and technological advancement of "Made in China" in complex Marine working conditions.
The expansion project of Tuladu Airport requires land reclamation in open sea areas. The underlying geology is rich in hard coral reefs, which poses a severe challenge to the excavation capacity and structural durability of the equipment. HID's specially customized dredger for this project is equipped with a high-power cutter head and an advanced automatic depth control system. It can efficiently break down coral reefs while ensuring construction accuracy, laying a solid foundation for the stability of the subsequent airport runway foundation. During the project construction period, with a continuous output efficiency of up to 5,000 cubic meters per hour, over 3 million cubic meters of materials were excavated and transported cumulatively. The performance far exceeded expectations and won high praise from the owner and the general contractor.
This Turadu Airport project marks the third milestone in HID's collaboration with the Maldives. Previously, HID's engineering vessels have successively served the construction of breakwaters and the expansion of residential islands in the southern atoll of the country. With a profound understanding of the unique Marine environment and environmental protection requirements of the Maldives, HID's solutions always place ecological protection at the core.
HID Shipyard will continue to support the construction of key infrastructure such as port and waterway expansion, airport expansion, offshore new energy and land improvement worldwide with its innovative technologies and reliable products.
